History

Invented several years ago by Peter Uddén and Sven Linnman the revolutionary 12/24 Volt digital communications and two-wire power technology system (Capi2) provides reduction of cabling, more flexibility and more safety.

Development and production of the system components take place in Sweden and assembly, sales and marketing are carried out in the south of the Netherlands. Here Capi2 Nederland BV is surrounded by other leading companies, such as Royal Philips, ASML, DAF Trucks, FEI, NXP, OTB, TNO.

In a short time span the new system has drawn world wide drawn attention in the marine leisure business world. Not only by potential customers or by Dutch yards building their yachts abroad but also in educational circles in the Netherlands.

Peter Uddén

Founder and CEO Capi2.
For twentyfive years Peter ran Permobil, a successful family business in the revalidation market with the manufacturing of sophisticated electric wheelchairs. Permobil represents innovation and technological leadership, and is a global leader in powered wheelchairs that extend new possibilities for mobility and independence to their users.

Its head office is in Timrå, Sweden, and it has production facilities both in Sweden and the US. In 2006, the company supplied 8,700 wheelchairs in 20 countries, mainly through wholly-owned subsidiaries. Currently over 50% of Permobil's wheelchairs are sold in the US, with the remainder being primarily sold in the European market. Revenues 2006: EUR 110 million

Today the Swedish entrepreneur and inventor has found a new challenge: the development and marketing of an easy-to-install low-power network - an integrated package of modular units that interact to provide control and monitoring of shipboard electrical systems such as pumps, instruments, lights etc.

Sven Linnman

Founder and Developer Capi2.
Sven has been managing the development of the electronics in the Permobil electric wheelchairs for many years. This is today one of the most advanced electric wheelchairs in the world market, manufactured in series of up to 10.000 systems per year. Some of the models include a CAN bus controlled system developed by Sven. He has a strong competence in the combination of microcontrollers, power electronics and communication busses.

Past projects

  • Together with 12 European manufacturers, universities and clinics for rehabilitation, Linnman participated in the development of communication standards for the industry, based on the CAN bus. He has also been leading this development as convener within the International Standards Organization (ISO).
  • Further he developed switch mode power supplies. He managed to get the first switch mode battery charger approved by the electric safety committee of Sweden. He has also been an industry pioneer in switch mode power supplies and power factor correction with several patents in the field.
  • Developed research oriented ignition systems, used by SAAB and Volvo in their development.
  • Worked at "Electrolux Core Technology and Innovation" where he among other things developed a specialized bus system for industrial washing machines, used by Wascator.
