Worldwide launch of the new ro 340 eco
Ronautica Yachts & Renovables (Yachts & Renewables) will make the worldwide launch of the new RO 340 ECO on 8 November 2008 at the Barcelona International Boat Show.
It is a pioneering activity worldwide, as this is the first mass produced ECO boat propelled by renewable energies.
To achieve an efficient boat and reduce its environmental impact during its life cycle, Ronautica has reduced the boat’s weight by using innovative materials which are as resistant as the traditional ones. All the weight of its installations and components are minimized, starting by the electric engine against the diesel type, and the digital wiring installed in the whole of the boat.
The main characteristics of this boat are listed below:
- Electric motor (7.5 KW of power)
- Sail Drive transmission
- 8 high powered batteries. No maintenance needed (motor)
- 2 batteries for the services in the boat
- Battery charger 220 V (with port connection and autonomous generator)
- Photovoltaic panels and vertical wind turbine to feed the batteries for services
- Two systems for the battery charge during sailing: self-sufficient module with the propeller when the motor is off (while sailing just with the wind) and a small gasoline-fuelled electric generator for longer routes or lack of wind
- Application of eco-friendly long-lasting antifouling
- Electronic sailing equipment self-powered by solar energy
- Digital wiring system Capi2, as an efficient system of energy distribution, and very light.
The boat has a motor range of more than 4 hours, which may be increased with the self-sufficient systems mentioned above.
With this ambitious project Ronautica starts a new I+D+i Division within the YACHTS section, where the basis for the ecological boat have been established.
The main goals of Ronautica with this project are as follows:
- To innovate with a completely new product within the Yacht Division
- To create a leisure and sustainable product
- To reduce the environmental impact of the boat
- To create an innovative model which brings in all the energy-efficiency improvements available up to the present time.
